From Quarry Worker to Rural Leader
Born in Chickarayapuram, Mrs. Valli started her journey as a worker in a stone quarry, a testament to her resilience and hard work. This experience instilled in her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by rural communities.
After her marriage in 2005, she began farming in Vempaneri, immersing herself in rural life and connecting with the needs of her community. This paved the way for her remarkable journey as a leader and social activist.
A Catalyst for Change: The Rise of Self-Help Groups
In 2014, Mrs. Valli joined the Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNRLM) and formed the Thangamalai Self-Help Group (SHG), a pivotal moment in her journey.
Her leadership and commitment earned her a loan of ₹450,000 for the Thangamalai SHG in 2016, providing a financial boost to the group and showcasing her ability to secure resources.
In 2017, she actively established 13 SHGs in Salem district, empowering women and fostering economic independence. She also secured loans for various SHGs, including the Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar SHG, Vannamalai SHG, Ponmalai SHG, and Vaagai Malar SHG, demonstrating her dedication to financial inclusion.

Mrs. Valli became a health director in Maraimalai Nagar, actively promoting health awareness and training others in essential topics like childcare and climate change.
